Paramedics are advanced level EMTs and can administer medications, set up intravenous (IV) lines, resuscitate cardiac and respiratory patients, and provide life support. Students earn 45 college credit hours upon completion of the program. They clock a total of 1,112 training hours.
The Paramedic training program prepares the graduate to function in a pre-hospital setting performing patient assessments, the administration of medications, EKG monitoring, and advanced resuscitation procedures.
The program consists of lectures, labs, and hospital and ride times in accordance with the latest National EMS Standards. The Paramedic program will prepare the student to take the Florida State Paramedic Exam. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn a diploma*.

RETENTION/ATTRITION (Graduated from the program)
The retention and attrition set by CoAEMSP is 70% and based on the percentage of students who started on the enrollment date (who began Paramedic coursework) who are enrolled and graduated.
STATE WRITTEN EXAM
The national Registry (written and/or practical) threshold set by National Registry or State Exam (written and/or practical) threshold set by State is 70%.
Positive (JOB) Placement
The Positive (Job) Placement threshold set by CoAEMSP is 70%. Positive (Job) placement means that the graduate is employed full or part-time or volunteers in the profession or in a related field; or is continuing his/her education; or is serving in the military.
